Some bags have the soul of a long journey. At 1971, I wanted a backpack as honest and hard-wearing as the garments that go with it — a piece that isn’t afraid of the road.

Its style comes straight from the 1940s, that era when you set off light but well equipped. Hand-sewn in waxed canvas and thick 2-to-3 mm leather, it has that raw character of bags that have seen a thing or two. It carries easily on a motorbike — café racer, scrambler or roadster: it’s one of those that love to catch the wind.

Because waxed canvas is a living material. Coated with wax to defy the rain, it evolves over time, softens, takes its shape and gains a patina until it tells a story that belongs to you alone. As indestructible as leather, it grows more beautiful with age. After a year or two, the choice is yours: reapply the wax to bring back its shine, or let it dry for that beautiful, worn vintage look.

Don’t worry about the droplet marks that may appear in the rain — that’s the nature of the material. Keep them if you like them, or restore the as-new look in thirty seconds with a simple hairdryer.

Everything is designed for the road: three outer pockets, one with a magnetic button and two side pockets for an umbrella, a bottle or your smartphone. The top closes with a very sturdy zip, and inside, stitched compartments hold a tablet, laptop, phone and business cards. The brass studs, for their part, sign it all off with a period touch.
